Dear colleagues and friends,
It is a great honour for me to welcome you all to JEC Saturday Seminar 2024: Diving deeper into the world of refraction.
More than two billions of people are affected by refractive errors worldwide, with uncorrected refractive error as one of the top causes for visual impairment, both in child and adult populations. Many of these cases were myopia, a refractive error that has tendency to undergo progression, and in turn can lead to various debilitating complications. Especially in recent years, after the COVID-19 pandemic, there was a significant increase of myopia incidence and prevalence. In year 2021, JEC Eye Hospital launched our special myopia control care outpatient clinic, to tackle the myopia issues.
Here in JEC Saturday Seminar, we addressed this myopia epidemic currently happening all over the world. We started from the basic of refraction to understand and manage myopia. Then we addressed the recent innovations and knowledge regarding the myopia control tools, both pharmacologic and optical. Then we also presented the surgical interventions.
Our international speakers were a highly renowned specialist in childhood myopia management, with various international speaking and publications experience. We believe this seminar would be very valuable in enhancing our knowledge of refraction and myopia.
I highly appreciate the work of each one of our team, who in the last few months endlessly put their best effort to ensure this meeting to go very well. And our deepest gratitude for the support of all delegates, industries, and speakers.
We have no doubt that JEC Saturday Seminar will be a meaningful and fruitful opportunity for all of us.
