He has accumulated experience in retinal and cataract surgery, with more than a thousand cataract operations and over a thousand vitreoretinal procedures performed. He is committed to delivering precise, evidence-based, and compassionate treatment for patients with retinal diseases, cataract, and vision-threatening conditions. He is fluent in Indonesian and English.
He previously completed his ophthalmology residency at the Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Indonesia – Cipto Mangunkusumo Hospital. He provides comprehensive diagnosis and treatment for a wide spectrum of retinal and vitreoretinal conditions, including retinal detachment and retinal tears, vitreous hemorrhage, macular hole, epiretinal membrane (macular pucker), vitreomacular traction, lens dislocation and retained lens fragments, sub macular hemorrhage, secondary intraocular lens implantation, and combined anterior–posterior segment surgery.
He also manages medical retinal diseases such as age-related macular degeneration (AMD), polypoidal choroidal vasculopathy (PCV), diabetic retinopathy, diabetic macular edema (DME), retinal vein occlusion (RVO), myopic macular degeneration, and central serous chorioretinopathy (CSC). In addition, he performs cataract surgery ranging from routine cases to complex cataract procedures combined with retinal surgery.
For ophthalmologists and referring doctors, Dr. Martin values collaborative care, clear communication, and timely feedback. He welcomes referrals and provides detailed evaluations and second opinions for complex retina and cataract cases.
For patients and families, Dr. Martin is known for his attentive and empathetic approach. He takes time to listen carefully, explain diagnoses in clear and understandable language, and discuss all available treatment options. He believes in shared decision-making, working closely with patients and their families to develop individualized treatment strategies in accordance with their values and beliefs, as well as their financial circumstances, to achieve the best possible outcomes. Conversely, he is also open to patients and families who wish to seek a second opinion from another doctor. He can also guide and refer patients if they require treatments that are not available yet in Indonesia.
Dedicated to maintaining excellence in ophthalmology and retinal care, he consistently updates his knowledge and clinical skills to keep pace with the latest developments. He actively participates in international ophthalmology conferences worldwide and dedicated retina courses. In addition to attending, he also talks and presents at scientific meetings at the national, regional, and international levels, reflecting his commitment to continuous professional development and academic contribution.
